This course on Gastrointestinal and Hepatobiliary Diseases covers almost all diseases and disorders of different parts of the gastrointestinal and hepatobiliary systems. The subjects of gastroenterology, as well as hepatology, are vast and complex, even when considered individually. This course provides the learners comprehensible content on each and every part of the gastrointestinal tract and the liver, its disorders, their presenting complaints, clinical assessment, diagnosis, etc with the aim to make an undergraduate learner grasp each and every concept thoroughly and deeply. This course is divided into multiple parts corresponding to the different parts of the system. This is the 5th part of the course which deals with the disorders of the Liver and the biliary tract.

  This module covers the aetiology, pathophysiology, clinical presentation, diagnostic investigations, complications, and management of Cirrhosis of the Liver and Portal Hypertension, as well as their aetiology, pathophysiology, clinical presentation, diagnostic investigations, complications, and management. The session concludes with a review of what happens when Portal Hypertension persists despite management efforts for a long time.

  This module delves into the epidemiology, aetiology, pathophysiology, clinical symptoms, diagnosis, investigations, and therapy of both alcoholic and non-alcoholic liver diseases under numerous headings.

• 5. Disorders of Liver & Biliary Tract: Tumors in the Liver 50 min

  This module deals with tumors in the Liver which is a very important issue globally. It focuses mainly on the primary malignant tumors, the secondary malignant tumors as well as the benign tumors of the liver.

• 6. Disorders of Liver & Biliary Tract: Inherited Diseases of the liver 61 min

  This module as its name reads; focuses on the various inherited diseases of the liver particularly Haemochromatosis and its types, Alpha- 1 antitrypsin deficiency, Wilson’s disease, and Gilbert’s syndrome.

• 7. Disorders of Liver & Biliary Tract: Drug Induced Liver Injury 27 min

  This module discusses the different patterns of hepatotoxicity. It will be covering up drug-induced Hepatocellular injury, Drug-induced cholestatic injury, Hepatic venous outflow obstruction, damage to hepatic sinusoids, risk factors in the development of drug-induced liver injury, diagnosis of drug-induced liver injury and management of drug-induced liver injury.

  This module deals with the issues that autoimmunity causes when it comes into contact with the hepatobiliary system. It mainly deals with the two broad disorders in the Hepatobiliary system namely Hepatitis and Cholangitis.

  This module deals with Arterial Insufficiency, one of the three types of vascular liver diseases. It emphasizes on Ischaemic Hepatitis, Ischaemic Cholangiopathy and Hepatic Arterial Disease including Atherosclerosis, Hepatic Artery Aneurysm and Hereditary Haemorrhagic Telangiectasia.

• 10. Disorders of Liver & Biliary Tract: Vascular Liver Diseases - Venous Insufficiency 46 min

  This module covers Venous Insufficiency, the second among the three types of Vascular Liver Diseases. It expounds the diseases which are characterized by interference with venous drainage of the liver including Budd chiari syndrome, Congestive hepatopathy, Idiopathic sinusoidal dilatation and Peliosis hepatis, Sinusoidal obstruction syndrome and lastly, Nodular regenerative hyperplasia of the liver.

  This module deals with Portal Insufficiency, last among the three types of Vascular Liver Diseases. It accentuates the various disorders like Portal vein thrombosis, Portopulmonary hypertension, Hepatopulmonary syndrome and Portal hypertension.

• 14. Disorders of Liver & Biliary Tract: Cancer & Tumors in the Biliary System 33 min

  This being the last module of the Disorders of Liver and Biliary Tract, covers the most widespread and deadly disease globally: Cancer. It focuses on both benign gallbladder tumours and potentially malignant cancers of the biliary system including the Carcinoma of the gallbladder, Cholangiocarcinoma or Carcinoma of the bile duct and Carcinoma of the Ampulla of Vater
